The Capital Projects Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management, design, development, and implementation of minor capital schemes up to £1 million, and for supporting Senior Capital Projects Managers in the delivery of larger capital projects. Acting as a professional client liaison and project manager, the role ensures that new build and refurbishment schemes meet clinical, operational, and strategic requirements.
This is an office-based role initially located at City Campus, with travel between Queen’s Medical Centre and City Campus as required. The post location may vary depending on project workload and site needs.

Assist the Assistant Heads of Capital in planning and delivering the Trust’s Capital Programme in alignment with strategic goals, standards, and governance policies.
Lead user briefings to ensure design solutions reflect all clinical, functional, and operational requirements, including the preparation of detailed room data sheets and integration of backlog maintenance considerations.
Ensure minor capital projects are delivered in accordance with Capital Investment Manual guidelines, departmental procedures, approved programmes, and budgets, reporting any deviations promptly for corrective action.
Oversee the design, procurement, and execution of minor capital projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery that complies with legislation, departmental engineering standards, infrastructure strategies, and record-keeping requirements.
Manage project budgets to meet financial targets and ensure compliance with the Trust’s Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders.
Provide monthly financial performance reports, identifying and communicating any variations in project cash-flow forecasts.
Communicate complex technical information to non-specialists—both verbally and through written/electronic formats—in a way that is easily understood and interpreted.
